mini memories, google

Google Exhibition.jpg

In early 2019 Jane was invited to present and exhibit her work at the Google Headquarters in NYC as part of a rotating exhibition series. Here Jane makes her first set of miniatures and begins her journey in extending her geometric painted works into 3 dimensional wall pieces.

The miniatures are an extension of Jane’s already strong geometric painting style. In this work Jane is able to realize her architectonic influence by creating miniature 3 dimensional spatial composition.

Mixed media of acrylic balsa wood and ply the miniatures dispense of traditional framing with every surface playing a compositional role.

memories of things i’ve seen

IMG_1250.jpg

Memories of Things I’ve Seen is a study in abstract geometry and  urban topology referencing Jane’s life in Australia as well as her experience in New York City. Jane grew up on the Mornington Peninsula in a house designed by her father.

This house was in itself a study of contemporary modernism with sunken conversation pits and hidden sliding pocket doors. This exposed Jane to the richness of modernism, the possibility of abstract storytelling and heavily influenced her perspective on Art, Architecture, and Design.

“My work is not about geometric perfection. It is actually optically imperfect. I am interested in allowing anyone who views the work to see my process within the texture and fluctuations of imperfection that can only be generated by hand.”

Memories of Things I’ve Seen is a collection of works on canvas, wood, and paper that graphically integrate her vivid memories of landscape, shape, colour, and form.
